Astrakhan family complains about non-admission of an autistic child to water park in Volzhsky

In the city of Volzhsky, employees of the water park unreasonably refused to let in a family with a disabled child who had come to rest from Astrakhan, the boy’s parents complained. The Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into the incident.

A boy’s mother told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent that she had arrived in the Volgograd Region together with her husband, mother, 14-year-old son, and 5-year-old daughter to have a rest. However, on August 2, employees of the water park in Volzhsky did not let their family to enter the park.

“My son is an autistic boy. There was an abnormal heat when we arrived at the water park. We were standing and waiting in a line there,” the woman said.

She explained that while they were standing and waiting in the line, her “son got autistic movements of the hands.” “A guard came up and said: ‘I don’t like his behaviour.’ He said that he would not let the boy in, because normal people would feel uncomfortable to look at such a child, and he (the guard) was worried that the boy would beat anyone.”

The woman said that her family had never faced such an attitude towards her son earlier. “It was a shock for us. I consulted a lawyer, and then I went and file a complaint to the Prosecutor’s Office, because the guard acted wrong,” the woman added.

The Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into the incident.
