Dagestani court sentences fugitives from colony

Six prisoners who escaped from the colony in Shamkhal have been sentenced to two years in prison each, which has been added to their basic terms. Three of their accomplices received conditional prison terms.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in September 2020, six prisoners escaped through a dug tunnel from the colony located in a dwelling settlement near Makhachkala. On September 30, the Dagestan Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) announced that all the fugitives had been detained in Kalmykia.

All the defendants pleaded guilty; the fugitives received two years of imprisonment each for their escape; and three residents of Dagestan, recognized as their accomplices, received conditional imprisonment.
