Police report 29 detainees under Tbilisi riot case
A total of 25 suspects in the attack on journalists at the protest against the gay parade in Tbilisi have been detained; four others are suspected of smashing the "Tbilisi Pride" office and attacking a passer-by.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 5, during the riots at the rallies against the gay parade in Tbilisi, 53 media professionals were attacked and beaten up. By July 23, 28 people had been detained.
On July 11, relatives of Lekso Lashkarava, a cameraman of the "Pirveli "TV Company, found him dead. The journalist was severely beaten up at the July 5 anti-gay parade rally.
The Tbilisi police have detained another suspect in the case of beating Lashkarava, a man born in 1991. According to law enforcers, the detainee had insulted the "TV-Pirveli" cameraman, when the latter was performing his professional duties and used force against him, the "Georgia Online" has reported.
A total of 29 people were detained in the case of July 5-6 riots in Tbilisi. 25 of them were detained under the article on obstructing the journalists' professional activities with the threat of violence. Three persons have been detained on the fact of the pogrom committed in the "Tbilisi Pride" office; another one was suspected of attacking a passer-by, the "News-Georgia" reports.
