Two teenagers publicly scolded in Dagestan for stealing bicycles

Policemen have publicly chastised two teenagers in Khasavyurt for stealing bicycles and initiated a theft case against them. Some Instagram users have criticized law enforcers for posting videos showing interrogation of children.

The video clip, in which two teenagers and their parents are scolded by law enforcers for stealing bicycles, was posted on the Instagram by the Dagastani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

In the video, the father of one of the teens explains that he came home late that day and could not control what his son was doing.

"A 47-year-old local resident turned to the police station. According to his story, an unknown person has stolen his two bicycles from the staircase platform of the house ... Policemen identified and brought to the police station two residents of Khasavyurt, aged 15 and 17, who confessed to what they had done," the Dagestani MIA has reported.

The teens rode the bikes around the territory of nearby villages all the night; and in the morning they were detained.

Some Instagram commentators treated the public scolding of the teens as inappropriate.

"Delete the video with the children who still have the whole life ahead, but because of you they will be persecuted and humiliated by their peers," the user kasimova8141 was indignant.

However, other users approved the posted video, urging parents to closely monitor their children.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that on February 14, 2021, policemen publicly scolded three participants in the conflict in Izberbash, who entered into a verbal skirmish with road traffic inspectors.
