Activists treat apologies by Azerbaijani blogger Pantural as insufficient
An application to the police has been prepared against the Azerbaijani director Tural Safarov, who runs his blog under the pseudonym "Pantural", demanding to punish him for his statement about women who dress openly. Safarov has apologized, but it hasn't convinced the authors of the petition.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Safarov had publicly apologized for calling for sexual violence against women dressed in revealing clothes. Apologies don't exempt him from criminal liability, the authors of the petition assert. A collective complaint to law enforcement bodies was supported by 11,000 users on the "Femkulis" page on the Instagram.
One of the Instagram blogger's subscribers believes that "Pantural had started all this aiming to increase the popularity of his page." Besides, Pantural, as a representative of creative professions – a director and a graphic designer – couldn't be a bearer of old conservative views about women.
