Samegrelo residents set on fire house of men suspected of raping a child

In a village of Western Georgia, two residents were detained in a case on a rape of a minor. Villagers set on fire the house of the suspects, despite attempts by the police to prevent the arson.

The police took the house of the detainees under guard in advance, but relatives of the alleged victim of sexual abuse managed to get inside, spill gasoline, and set the house on fire, the Zugdidi “Atinaati” Radio Station reports today.

A video of the blazing two-storey wooden house was shown on the air of the “Mtavari Arkhi” TV Company.

The residents of the house, a 65-year-old man and his 35-year-old son, were detained on June 24, after a mother of an eight-year-old girl filed to the police a complaint about a rape. Both father and son are suspected of the rape. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Georgia has appointed a forensic medical examination, the “News-Georgia” reports today with reference to the press service for the Georgian police.

The police forces have been accumulated in the village in the Samegrelo District. The fellow villagers of the detainees demand severe punishment for both suspected men, the “InterPressNews” reports.
