Leninkent residents demand to solve water supply problem
There is no water supply in the dwelling settlement of Leninkent in Dagestan for about ten days due to a pump breakdown, local residents said during their gathering held on June 24. The participants threatened authorities to hold a protest action if the problem is not resolved in a short time.
On June 24, Leninkent residents held a gathering in micro-district No. 4, where they expressed their indignation at the prolonged lack of water supply. According to their story, they have no water for nine days.
Those present threatened to block the federal highway should the authorities fail to restore the water supply, the "Chernovik" (Draft) weekly has reported. "Many houses have disabled people and children; they have vegetable gardens in yards. Coronavirus is in the city; infections are everywhere; we have to observe hygiene, wash children, look after the elderly and disabled, and we simply have no water," the weekly quotes Aminat, a local residents, as saying.
At the above gathering, residents also discussed the issue of buying and installing a new pump. Its price is around 800,000 roubles. Kazavat Suleimanov, the settlement head, has assured that the issue would be resolved within two days, the weekly has informed.
