Dagestanskie Ogni residents complain about interruptions in supply of water and electricity
In the town of Dagestanskie Ogni, local residents complain about experiencing regular electricity and water supply cuts. In connection with the problems with housing and communal services, a group of activists sent a notification to the authorities about a next protest action.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on May 17, residents of the 13th residential microdistrict of Dagestanskie Ogni held a protest action in front of the Mayoralty building. They expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of water supply and the accumulation of garbage in the residential microdistrict. The protesters sought a meeting with the Mayor, but he did not come out to meet them.
According to local residents, frequent power outages and interruptions in water supply continue to be the most pressing problems of Dagestanskie Ogni. “There was no water supply in the town for a long time,” local woman Zariyat told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.
The Dagestani regional public organization “Ogni Anti-Corruption Committee” notified the Dagestani Ministry of Justice (MoJ) about a protest action to be held in Dagestanskie Ogni on July 9. “[The action will be dedicated to a protest against] arbitrariness, corruption <...> lack of water and electricity supply," the notification states.
In Dagestanskie Ogni, the problems with housing and communal services continue to remain urgent, says local journalist Magomed Khanmagomedov. “The town experiences power outage almost every day. Therefore, social activists decided to organize a protest action,” Magomed Khanmagomedov told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.
