Week of June 14-20 passed without victims of armed conflict in Northern Caucasus
During the week from June 14 to June 20, 2021, during the ongoing armed conflict in Northern Caucasus, no information about any casualties or wounded persons was reported. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.
On June 16, in a joint operation conducted by the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), the Russian Federal Security Bureau (FSB) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), Magomed Alkhanov, a native of Chechnya, was detained. Investigators consider him a member of Basaev's gang and suspect him of involvement in the attack on Pskov paratroopers in 2000. According to public information from the ICRF, Alkhanov is supposed to be charged with an armed rebellion, participation in a gang, as well as encroachment on the lives of military servicemen. The punishments under these articles provide for up to 20 years in prison.
Every month, quarter, and every year, the “Caucasian Knot” posts statistics with regard to victims of the armed conflict in the regions of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) in Section “Northern Caucasus: Statistics of Victims”.
