"Rosgvardia" fighters refuse from being victims in Ingush protest leaders' case

The employees of the "Rosgvardia" (Russian National Guard) interrogated at the Essentuki City Court have stated that they did not know the defendants  and refuse to be treated as the suffered party under the case of the protest action in Magas, Magomed Bekov, an advocate, has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the case of Zarifa Sautieva and six other leaders of Ingush protests, who are accused of creating an extremist community, has been considered by the above court since November 24, 2020.

On March 26, 2019, residents of Ingushetia continued their protest rally in Magas without a sanction from the authorities. In the morning on March 27, protesters clashed with the police. Starting since the early April of 2019, mass arrests of oppositionists took place in Ingushetia.

On May 25, 2021, a regular court session was held at the Essentuki City Court, where four "Rosgvardia" fighters were questioned as secret witnesses and stated, like the earlier questioned witnesses, that they did not know any of the defendants and could not say anything on the merits of the criminal case, Magomed Bekov, an advocate, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "Two of them immediately stated that they did not treat themselves as victims within the given case, and they did not know why they were considered to be victims. All the four said that they could not report anything about the organization of the use of violence by our clients ... According to their story, they do not know the people who were in the courtroom as the defendants; and they did not know what they were accused of. Each of them stated that he was not familiar with the materials of this criminal case, because the investigator did not invite any of them to get acquainted with them," said the advocate.
