Karabakh rescuers resume search for dead bodies

After a 20-day break, the State Service for Emergencies of Nagorno-Karabakh resumed searching for the bodies of the dead soldiers and those missing in action in the territories that came under the control of Azerbaijan.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on May 4, the searches were suspended because of the absence of a guide in the area. Since the beginning of the search operations, rescuers have found and removed from the territories the bodies of 1553 soldiers.

The Karabakh rescuers resumed the search for the bodies of the soldiers killed in the autumn war in the territories that came under the control of Azerbaijan. “Today, the search operations will be continued in the area of Fizuli (the Armenian name is Varanda, – note of the “Caucasian Knot), the international news agency “News-Armenia” reports with reference to the State Service for Emergencies of Nagorno-Karabakh.

On May 21, Unan Tadevosyan, the chief of the Information and Public Relations Department of the State Service for Emergencies of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), reported that Azerbaijan did not give permission to conduct search operations and did not explain any reasons. He noted that although earlier there were cases when the Azerbaijani side did not allow conducting search operations, there has not been such a long pause yet, the “Panorama” reports.
