Film about Chechen gay included into South-Korean festival programme

At the documentary Diaspora Film Festival in South Korea, it is planned to screen the "Quiet Voice" film about the life of Khavadj, a MMA fighter from Chechnya, who had to flee to Belgium after his relatives learned about his non-traditional sexual orientation.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that this April, the Russian film festival "Artdocfest" cancelled the screening of the "Quiet Voice" about the fate of a Chechen gay, although the film won the Grand Prix.

The film's description says that in Chechnya "everyone, from the government to every family, practices radical violence against sexual minorities. Chechen homosexuals are forced to hide their faces, use pseudonyms, change their residences and wander the streets of Europe."

The film director known as "Reka Valerik" said in an interview with the "Kavkaz.Realii" that in May his film is planned to be shown at festivals in Prague and Brussels, in June – in France, and in July – in Tel Aviv.
