Rights defenders achieve hospitalization of deported Chechen

Mansur Ismailov, a native of Chechnya, who was deported from France, has received emergency medical care at a hospital.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that Mansur Ismailov, a 39-year-old native of Chechnya, who left Russia in 2007, lived in France. On May 11, he was detained at a police station where he came to undergo a regular check procedure and was hastily deported. His wife learned about the deportation of her husband when he was already on the plane.

Mansur was deported from France on May 12 and spent more than 24 hours in the territory of the border service, in fact, under illegal arrest. He has to take the medications prescribed to him because of a kidney transplant, but after a sudden deportation he was deprived of the chance to do so – the needed medicines remained in France. His health deteriorated rapidly, and at night on May 13, border guards called a doctor from the medical unit of the Sheremetyevo Airport; and then – an ambulance, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial"* has reported today.

Around 10:00 a.m. Moscow time on May 13, a border guard officer left Ismailov, whose condition was deteriorating, in the airport hall and said that he was free. Earlier, law enforcers refused to release Ismailov from the airport and demanded from his relatives to buy him an air ticket to Grozny, where he "had to fly away," but seeing Ismailov's deteriorating health condition and knowing that the case had been known to the public, they did not want to risk and cause the death of the deportee, the HRC's message has noted.

Mansur Ismailov turned to the airport medical unit for help. The doctor said that there was a risk of kidney rejection and called an ambulance. The ambulance team took Ismailov to the M. F. Vladimirsky Moscow Regional Research Clinical Institute, the message said.

In the morning on May 14, Ismailov told his uncle that he was being discharged from hospital. Doctors said that he has received emergency care; and there was no need for his further inpatient treatment.
