In Yerevan, Pashinyan’s opponent detained at an action with a donkey

A resident of Ijevan brought a donkey to the Armenian parliament and announced that he would use the animal to return Nikol Pashinyan to his hometown. The police did not allow the activist to approach the parliament building and took him to a police station.

The participant of an unusual protest action was detained near the building of the Armenian Parliament, where an extraordinary meeting on the candidacy for the post of prime minister was being held.

The resident of Ijevan (the hometown of Nikol Pashinyan, – note of the “Caucasian Knot) brought a donkey to the building of the National Assembly, the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent reported. The man in a Ford car drove up to the parliament building where Nikol Pashinyan was located and took the animal out of the car. According to the activist, he came to Yerevan to “return Nikol Pashinyan to where he came from and disgraced the whole nation.” The man emphasized that the donkey was intended specifically for the Prime Minister.

“We have an ancient tradition to put a traitor backwards on a donkey and take him around the city. I am ashamed to admit that I also came from the town of Ijevan. But I came here so that people could see there are such Ijevan men like me,” the activist told journalist during his protest action, which was broadcast live by the “Yerevan Today” Channel.

When the man with his donkey approached the parliament building, the police stopped him and demanded to leave the square with the animal. Then the activist started calling out loudly for Nikol Pashinyan. When the police forcibly took him away, the protestor continued to chant: “A defender of a traitor is a traitor!”
