Azerbaijan updates death toll in Karabakh

In the course of hostilities in the fall of 2020 in Nagorno-Karabakh, 2895 Azerbaijani soldiers perished; 19 more are regarded as missing, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has reported.

On March 2, the Azerbaijani MoD reported that 2881 bodies from among the soldiers who perished in the fall of 2020 in Karabakh had been identified. 386 military servicemen were reported missing; 362 of them were found dead by April 20. Investigators are trying to find out if any of the remaining 24 soldiers are in captivity, or, if they perished, could their remains stay with the enemy, the military prosecutor's office of Azerbaijan has stated.

According to official data, the Armenian party about 4000 military servicemen perished. By May 5, 2021, Karabakh rescuers found bodies of 1553 soldiers in the battlefields. After that, the search for bodies was suspended due to the absence of a local guide.
