Makhachkala picketers demand to free Abdulmumin Gadjiev

On May 3, in Makhachkala, two solo pickets demanding freedom for Abdulmumin Gadjiev, the arrested journalist of the "Chernovik" (Draft) weekly, were held by his colleagues Magomed Magomedov and Magdi Kamalov. During the pickets, Magomedramazan Abdulkerimov, a Dagestani MP, called on the head of Dagestan to pay attention to the emergency state of rural schools.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Gadjiev's colleagues and friends are regularly holding pickets in his support. Thus, on April 26, Magomed Magomedov, a deputy editor-in-chief, and Magdi Kamalov, the founder of the "Chernovik", at their solo pickets demanded to release Gadjiev and to abandon the practice of unjustified arrests.

At the pickets, Magomedramazan Abdulkerimov called on the acting head of Dagestan, Sergey Melikov, to pay attention to the problem of schools in the Tsuntin District, which are in the state of emergency. According to the MP, there are "almost 90%" of schools in this condition in the district.

In Southern Russia, hundreds of schools work without running water, sewerage and central heating; they need overhauls; and some school buildings are in emergency condition.
