Armenian General Movses Akopyan accused of disclosing state secrets

Colonel-General Movses Akopyan, the former head of the military control service of the Armenian Ministry of Defence (MoD), who had criticized the authorities in connection with the fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh, is under recognizance not to leave on charges of divulging state secrets.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in November 2020, Akopyan was suspected of abuse of power after he explained the defeat in Karabakh by the unprofessional command of the Armenian Armed Forces.

Mr Akopyan also stated that the Armenian MoD had misled its soldiers with false information about the course of hostilities.

On Monday (May 3), General Akopyan was interrogated at the National Security Service (NSS), after which he was charged, the NEWS.am reports.
