In Southern Russia, Navalny’s offices change their activities after prosecutors’ decision

The Moscow Prosecutor’s Office suspended the activities of Alexei Navalny’s offices amid the preparation of the Moscow City Court to consider a claim to recognize them as an extremist organization. In Southern Russia, Alexei Navalny’s offices have stopped posting on social media, but their staff will continue to work privately, Alexei Navalny’s supporters say.

The activities of Alexei Navalny’s offices has been suspended in accordance with the decision of Moscow Prosecutor Denis Popov, and volunteers of the oppositionist’s offices are now prohibited from organizing rallies, posting materials on behalf of the Alexei Navalny’s NGO on the Internet, and participating in elections and referendums, the TASS reports today.

In Southern Russia, in connection with the decision pronounced by the Moscow Prosecutor’s Office, the Alexei Navalny’s offices announced a change in the format of their activities. “Unfortunately, we may no longer work in the old format. It is unsafe for our employees and our supporters. Starting from today, no information will appear on our page. It will be ‘frozen.’ In the near future, we will change its name and depersonalize it as much as possible. The same will be done with regard to the rest of the pages of our offices on social media. In spite of everything, we personally will continue to fight corruption,” states, in particular, a post on the Instagram account of the Alexei Navalny’s office in Krasnodar.

Today, the same reports have been posted on the Instagram page of the Rostov Alexei Navalny’s office and on the Twitter accounts of the Volgograd and Makhachkala oppositionist’s offices.
