Karabakh rescuer wounded by mine explosion

The rescuer who has blown up himself by a mine while searching for the bodies of those killed in the places of hostilities in the Karabakh conflict zone has been operated on and is in the intensive care unit.

According to rescuers, the accident occurred during a search operation near Djrakan (the Azerbaijani name is Djebrail).

As a result of a mine explosion on April 15, the 45-year-old commander of the operative group of the special rapid response unit of the civil service was wounded, the State Emergency Service (SES) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Nagorno-Karabakh has reported today as cited by the "Arminfo" News Agency.

According to the SES, he was wounded in the right foot and was operated on at the medical centre in Stepanakert. Now, he is under intensive care; his condition is assessed as stable, the "Sputnik-Armenia" has reported.

According to rescuers, due to the accident, the search operation was suspended on April 15; and the next day the search for the remains of the dead continued in the vicinity of Vorotan.
