POWs’ relatives block administration building in Shirak Region

Relatives of prisoners of war (POWs) and of soldiers missed in action blocked the entrance to the administration of the Shirak Region. They demand a meeting with the Prime Minister of Armenia. The problem of POWs remains unresolved despite several meetings with the authorities, the protestors claim.

On the same day, relatives of soldiers missed in action blocked the building of the Armenian Ministry of Defence (MoD).

Today, the relatives of prisoners of war and of soldiers missed in action have blocked the entrance to the administration of the Shirak Region with the demand for a meeting with the Armenian Prime Minister, the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent has been informed by Armen, one of the protesters. According to the man, the police tried to remove the protestors from the administration building, but did not succeed.

The relative of a prisoner of war said that the protestors had several meetings with officials, representing the authorities, including with the Prime Minister during his visit to Gyumri, “however, the problem of prisoners of war remained unresolved.”
