On February 22-28, two people were wounded during armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week of February 22-28, 2021, during the ongoing armed conflict in Northern Caucasus, two people were wounded; there was no information about any casualties. Attacks on law enforcers

On February 25, at about midnight, in the village of Uchkeken, Malokarachai District of Karachay-Cherkessia, during an operational-preventive activity, employees of the ROVD (District Interior Division) and "Rosgvardia" (Russian National Guard) noticed a Niva car parked on the road shoulder. They approached the driver to check his documents. There were two passengers in the car; the driver stabbed one of the policemen, and one of the passengers fired a hunting rifle at a "Rosgvardia" employee; then the attackers fled. After receiving medical care, the wounded policeman was released home, while the "Rosgvardia" serviceman was hospitalized. On February 28, in Cherkessk, law enforcers detained one of the attackers.

Detentions

On February 26, a 34-year-old resident of the Babayurt District was detained in Dagestan on suspicion of involvement in the activities of the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist grouping banned in the Russian Federation by the court. According to investigators, in 2016, the suspect took part in the IS' activities "by organizing meetings and gatherings, and conducting conversations among residents of the Babayurt District." Besides, he distributed various media products among his acquaintances promoting the ideas of the terrorist organization.
