Mothers of three Derbent residents demand to punish law enforcers for torture

Three women from Derbent have held pickets demanding to investigate the torture of their sons accused of terrorism. For six times already, investigators refused to open a case against law enforcers, but the prosecutor's office has launched a new inquiry.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that residents of Derbent, Islam Barzukaev, Gasan Kurbanov and Mirzaali Mirzaliev (Mirazali Mizaraliev) were detained in June 2019 and accused of participating in an illegal armed formation (IAF).

On Wednesday (January 27), the mothers of all the three stood with a poster, in which they wrote a demand to punish law enforcers for "brutal torture."

“Our sons' knees are broken; my son has his ear membranes burst. Gasan and Islam had to undergo surgeries. But, despite this, investigators refuse to initiate a criminal case," Elena Barzukaeva has emphasized.
