Armenian Parliament refuses to discuss legality of peace agreement

Today, the MPs from the "My Step" faction have opposed the discussion of the opposition's initiative, which criticizes the ceasefire agreement on Nagorno-Karabakh.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that under the terms of the trilateral agreement concluded on November 9, 2020, two-thirds of the territory that had been controlled by Stepanakert before September 27, 2020, came under the control of Baku. The border changes also affected a number of municipalities in Armenia. The Armenian opposition, like Azerbaijani authorities, treats the signing of the agreement by Pashinyan as Armenia's capitulation.

The Armenian MPs have refused to put the issue of the legality of the November 9 ceasefire agreement on Nagorno-Karabakh into the agenda of today's session. The bill was initiated by the oppositional faction "Enlightened Armenia", but the parliamentary majority has rejected it.

The Armenian opposition is deliberately heading towards an escalation of tensions in the country, Lilit Makunts, the head of the ruling "My Step" faction, has stated at the today's parliament session. In her turn, Naira Zograbyan, an MP from the "Prosperous Armenia" faction, has stated that there should be only one point on the agenda of the parliament session – resignation of the Premier Pashinyan, the "News-Armenia" has reported.
