Chechen native Akhmetkhan Timurziev publicly repents for policeman killed by his sons

The father of the two Timurziev brothers, who attacked policemen in Grozny, apologized on the air of the "Grozny" TV Channel. Akhmetkhan Timurziev assured that law enforcers treated him, his wife, and his daughter well after their detention.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the father, the mother, and a sister of the Timurziev brothers were detained shortly after the armed incident that occurred in Grozny on December 28. One of the policemen was killed, while the other was seriously wounded. Both attackers, the Timurziev brothers, natives of Ingushetia, were also killed. On January 7, members of the Timurziev and Sultygov teips (family clans) arrived in Chechnya. Earlier, relatives of the killed and wounded policemen declared a blood feud against the Timurziev and Sultygov teips. After the members of the Timurziev and Sultygov teips arrived in Chechnya, the reconciliation took place. According to the members of the Timurziev teip, the Chechen authorities promised to release the detained relatives of the killed Timurziev brothers. On January 12, the detainees returned to Ingushetia.

Akhmetkhan Timurziev, the father of the killed brothers, said that he had no doubts about the guilt of his sons. He considered himself and his wife responsible for his sons' actions and noted that he was "guilty before the people."

The man also assured that he was not subjected to pressure after his detention.

The authorities of Chechnya used the story with declaration of blood feud against Timurziev brothers' relatives and subsequent reconciliation for their own political purposes, including for criticism of opponents. At a session of the Chechen parliament, Ingush elders praised Akhmat Kadyrov, the first president of the republic.
