Prosecution witnesses tell about Ingush activists' attempts to pacify protesters in Magas

At trial, prosecution witnesses have confirmed that at the rally in Magas, protest leaders urged the mob to act within the law.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the case of seven protest leaders in Ingushetia, accused of creating an extremist community, has been considered since November 24, 2020, in the Stavropol Territory. On December 22, most of the residents of Ingushetia who came to support the defendants at the courthouse could not attend the session. They stated that the court deliberately isolated the defendants to deprive them of support.

"The witnesses said a lot of important things in defendants' defence," said Fatima Urusova, the Akhmed Barakhoev's advocate. In her opinion, the reading out of case materials "is protracting the trial."

Magomed Abubakarov, the advocate of Barakh Chemurziev, also believes that the prosecution imitates the work. He has noted that given the fact that the "trial is political," the defence fears that the court will be biased in passing the verdict.

Human rights defenders treat the "Ingush case" as the largest political prosecution in the modern Russia. The leaders of the Ingush protest movement are actually being held accountable for their authority, Sergey Davidis and Lev Ponomaryov have stated.

Boris Kodzoev, an activist, believes that what is happening at the trial of "leaders of Ingush protests" creates "an illusion of prosecution and justice."
