MP Sofia Ovsepyan leaves "My Step" faction

The "My Step" faction, headed by Armenian Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan, has lost another MP: Sofia Ovsepyan has stated that she will continue working as an independent MP.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that November 14, the MP, Vardan Atabekyan, left the "My Step" faction because of the agreement on Nagorno-Karabakh signed by the Premier. He explained that he was quitting the faction due to disagreements with the political team. After Nikol Pashinyan called on the soldiers to "solve the problems of those who whine under the walls" in Yerevan, on November 16, the MPs from the "My Step" faction, Gayane Abramyan and Lusine Badalyan gave up their mandates. The MP, Tagui Tovmasyan has also announced her withdrawal from the faction.

Ms Ovsepyan has stated that she quits the "My Step" faction, having made the decision "after long deliberations," the "Sputnik-Armenia" reported on January 9. She did not specify the reason for her decision, but said that she would continue working as an independent MP.

Together with Nazeli Bagdasaryan, another MP from the "My Step" faction, Sofia Ovsepyan is actively involved in the return of Armenian prisoners of war (POWs) from Azerbaijan, the "News-Armenia" has added. Prior to her election to the parliament, Ovsepyan held the post of deputy governor of the Shirak Region.
