In Tbilisi, protesters demand to release Giorgi Rurua

In Tbilisi, about a dozen activists went to a protest action near a house of Giorgi Rurua, a co-owner of the "Mtavari Arkhi" TV Company. The protesters demanded to release political prisoners and conduct political reforms.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 30, 2020, the Tbilisi City Court found Giorgi Rurua, a shareholder of the opposition Georgian "Mtavari Arkhi" TV Company, guilty of illegal firearms trafficking and sentenced him to four years of imprisonment.

Today, several dozen activists have come to a protest action in front of the house of Giorgi Rurua in Tbilisi. The protesters used a fence of the house to hang on it several banners with the slogans reading: "Freedom for political prisoners," the "Rustavi-2" TV Channel reports on its website today.

The report is accompanied by a video, depicting the protesters and the policemen watching them from a close distance. In their hands, the protesters are holding flags with portraits of Georgian oppositionists.

The activists demand from the Georgian authorities to release Giorgi Rurua and other political prisoners, the Georgian "First Channel" reports.
