Trend of blackmailing girls with intimate photos reaches KChR

A resident of the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR) extorted money from girls by threatening to spread their intimate photos in social networks; the police have reported about 18 criminal cases initiated against the suspect. Similar cases are being investigated in other regions of Northern Caucasus; and fighters for morality acted as blackmailers.

According to the website of the KChR's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the above young man extorted money from a 21-year-old woman from Stavropol and a 17-year-old girl from the Krasnodar Territory by phone, threatening to publish their intimate photos in social networks.

The news about the alleged blackmailer has angered Instagram users.

"How can a resident of Karachaevsk engage in activities shameful for a man?!" the user yurist_kchr_skfo is indignant.

However, among the comments there are some that condemn the victims. "Of course, he acted meanly and extremely low. But let the girls learn a lesson. Never, under any pretext, send your intimate photos," the user paveldurov4590 has noted.

Cases of publicizing information discrediting women in social networks and extorting money from them are not uncommon in other regions of Northern Caucasus. Thus, in November, a 29-year-old resident of Dagestan was accused of posting in a social network a nude photo of a local girl without her consent.
