Armenian officer arrested within case of death of 18 soldiers in Karabakh

A Lieutenant Colonel of the Nagorno-Karabakh Army ordered soldiers to get into the truck, despite the threat of a drone attack; as a result 18 soldiers were killed and one was wounded, the Armenian General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that parents of the missing soldiers had demanded from Armenian authorities to provide the information about their sons' fate. In parents' opinion, authorities are silent about missing soldiers. On November 19, they went to a protest action in Yerevan near the building of the Armenian Ministry of Defence (MoD), demanding a meeting with the Minister. On the same day, investigators reported officers' arrests within the case of violations of the conditions of military service and unreasonable deaths of Armenian military servicemen in Nagorno-Karabakh.

According to investigators, the father of one of the soldiers went to the frontline in Karabakh and became an eyewitness of how on October 9, the deputy commander of the military unit ordered his soldiers, who got out of the vehicle, to get back into it and continue moving, although the sound of an approaching drone was heard. A few minutes later, the vehicle came under fire; and the soldiers in it were killed.
