In Chechnya, militants kill law enforcers for second time in 2020

A shootout in Grozny has become the second armed incident in Chechnya in 2020 with casualties among law enforcers. Both incidents occurred in the fourth quarter of 2020.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today, in Grozny, inspectors of the patrol-and-post service (known as PPS) were attacked. Ramzan Kadyrov announced that two attackers were killed, while one law enforcer was also killed and his colleague was wounded.

The today's shootout has become the third armed incident in Chechnya in December and the fifth armed incident since early 2020. Meanwhile, no incidents were registered in Chechnya during the first nine months of 2020.

Apart from the today's armed incident in Grozny, an incident with casualties among law enforcers took place on October 13, when the police cordoned off a house with the militants who found a shelter in it. As a result of a shootout, four of the suspects were killed. Two law enforcers were also killed, while another was seriously wounded.
