15 people suffered in armed conflict in Northern Caucasus in Q3 2020

At least 15 people suffered in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus in the period from July 1 to September 30, 2020: 13 persons perished and two were wounded. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from open sources.

The statistics cited cannot accurately reflect the number of victims. Not all the data gets into news bulletins. It is not always possible to check how true the statements of law enforcement bodies are; and new data on the events that happened during the reporting period sometimes become known after the publication of statistics on the "Caucasian Knot".

13 people perished as a result of conflict. Among them, there was one law enforcer and 12 people involved, according to law enforcement bodies, in illegal armed formations (IAFs). Both wounded were law enforcement officers.

In Karadino-Balkaria, in Quarter 2 of 2020, during the armed conflict, eight alleged members of the armed underground and one law enforcer were killed; two law enforcers were wounded. In Chechnya, four alleged members of the armed underground were killed in the period from July to September.

In Dagestan, Ingushetia, Karachay-Cherkessia, the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania and the Stavropol Region, no victims of the armed conflict were recorded.

In the 2nd quarter of 2020, at least 11 persons fell victim to the armed conflict, 10 people were killed and one wounded.

  • Two natives of Northern Caucasus injured in shootout near “Wildberries” office in Moscow

    A shootout took place near an office of the “Wildberries” Company in the centre of Moscow. As a result, at least one person has been killed and several others have been wounded, sources report. Among the victims have been Abubakar Mestoev and Umar Chichaev, mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters from Northern Caucasus, reports Shamil Khadulaev, the chair of the Public Oversight Commission (POC) of Dagestan.
