Armenia: political crisis hampers border demarcation with Azerbaijan

There are no conditions for starting negotiations on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, since Nikol Pashinyan may cede power to revanchists, the political analysts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" believe.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the start of talks on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border demarcation, which was not carried out due to the Karabakh conflict, is scheduled for December.

The instability of the Armenia political system itself is an obstacle to the start of the talks on the border delimitation, said Kamran Gasanov, a political analyst and a senior lecturer at the division of journalism theory and history at the philological department of the Russian University of Peoples' Friendship (known as RUDN).

"We need to wait for some time, at least for six months, whether Pashinyan will remain the leader and whether it is possible to negotiate with him. Since it's unknown what policy the forces that will come after him will pursue. If this will be a revanchist path, then there will be no negotiations with them," Mr Gasanov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
