Uchkeken suicide bomber attack becomes first incident in NCFD within more than two years

An attack on law enforcers in Karachay-Cherkessia was preceded by a female suicide bomber attack on a checkpoint in Chechnya in November 2018.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today, six law enforcers have been injured in an explosion of an improvised explosive device (IED) in the village of Uchkeken, while the attacker was killed in the explosion.

According to the chronicle run by the "Caucasian Knot" and entitled "Terror acts committed by suicide bombers on the territory of the Russian Federation", the recent suicide bomber attack in the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) took place in Chechnya on November 17, 2018. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), a woman was killed when she activated an IED at a checkpoint in the Staropromyslovsky District of Grozny.

According to sources, on July 1, 2019, a suicide bomber attacked a checkpoint in the village of Bamut in the Achkhoi-Martan District of Chechnya. However, the MIA reported that the attacker did not blow himself up, but was killed by law enforcers when he threw a grenade at them. One of the law enforcers also died, not in the explosion, but from a knife wound.

It should be noted that on February 19, 2019, the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) reported about the killing of a militant who manufactured a "suicide bomber's belt" in the Derbent District of Dagestan: an IED was found at the place of the counterterrorist operation (CTO). Users of social networks reacted with distrust to the information that the killed man was a militant and had the IED with him.
