Stepanakert townspeople left without stable cellular telephony

The mobile phone signal is very weak; it is almost impossible to use the mobile Internet, residents of Stepanakert have informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that residents of Nagorno-Karabakh had problems with the Internet. The administration heads of Stepanakert and Martakert District have associated these problems with the loss of the city of Karvachar, through which the fibre-optic cable was laid.

Stepanakert has not only problems with the Internet, but also a very weak mobile phone signal, Anush Danielyan, a Stepanakert resident, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "Fixed-line telephones work more or less. From a mobile phone one can call someone from the "Karabakh-Telecom" provider; but you can't get to other providers at all. Whoever calls me from Armenia also complains about a bad connection," Ms Danielyan said.

David Badalyan, a Stepanakert resident, has confirmed to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that phone communication in the city is very poor. "You need to dial a subscriber's number for 30 times in order to accidentally get through once; while there's no Internet at all for four or five days. Officials to explain the exact reason, and when they will remedy the malfunction," Mr Badalyan said.
