Azerbaijanis from frontline villages have to live in damaged houses

Roofs covered with tarpaulins and boarded up windows have become a reality of post-war life for many families in the Agdjabedi, Agdam and Terter Districts of Azerbaijan. The authorities offered premises in administrative buildings and kindergartens for those whose houses were completely destroyed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Azerbaijani government has promised to restore houses and infrastructure destroyed in the frontline areas during the hostilities that started on September 27.

In particular, seven villages of the Martakert District of Karabakh will be handed over to Azerbaijanis. The villagers were given 24 hours for evacuation, but there is not enough transport for everyone to move away one's belongings.

Akhmed Mamedov, a resident of the village of Arazabar, Agdjabedi District, said that during the six weeks of hostilities, the village was repeatedly shelled.

Museib Sadykhov, a resident of the village of Khyndyrstan, Agdam District, has lost his house as a result of shelling.

Villagers have also suffered economic losses – because of shelling, it was not always possible to go into the field; there was also a mine hazard. The unharvested crops of onions and cotton have got rotten away.

Gafar Alizade, a resident of the village of Guzanli, Agdam District, said that people from the frontline villages, who had temporarily settled in the village, had already returned home.
