About 7000 refugees return to Nagorno-Karabakh

Forced migrants are returning to Nagorno-Karabakh from Armenia by the road through Karvachar. The way via the Lachin Corridor is unsafe, since Shushi is under Azerbaijan's control, an Armenian political analyst has noted.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that after the cessation of hostilities, 1709 people have returned to Stepanakert from Armenia.

It should be noted here that before the aggravation of the situation, the Stepanakert-Berdzor (the Azerbaijani name is Lachin) -Goris road had functioned for motor vehicles.

The "Caucasian Knot" has drafted a map to show the territories that will pass over to Azerbaijan after the autumn war. Also, the "Caucasian Knot" has published a deployment map of the Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The transport communication with Nagorno-Karabakh via Berdzor cannot function normally, since there are Azerbaijani troops in Shushi (the Azerbaijani name is Shusha), said Andrias Gukasyan, a member of the Armenian Union of Political Analysts.

"I don't think that safe conditions are in place in Artsakh (the self-name of Nagorno-Karabakh) for the civilian population ... At any moment, a massacre can broke out there, while Russian peacemakers won't even be able to ensure their own security," said Mr Gukasyan.

He believes that Armenian military only can stay in Karabakh, while the civilian population should leave.
