Armenia reports damage to schools during shelling attacks

In the Armenian border villages of Sotk and Kut, school buildings had been damaged by shelling attacks by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of the Azerbaijani armed forces, the authorities of Armenia claimed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that a ceasefire came into force in Nagorno-Karabakh on October 18, but the other morning, the parties to the conflict accused each other of shelling attacks. Today, Nagorno-Karabakh has accused Azerbaijan of a shelling attack on the city of Martuni and four villages in the Kashatag District. Azerbaijan reported that a civilian was injured in a shelling attack on the village of Aleskerli.

As a result of the strikes by the Azerbaijani UAVs, the schools of the Sotk and Kut communities in the Gegharkunik Region of Armenia had been damaged, the united information centre under the government of Armenia reported. School personnel had not been injured.

It should be noted that 24,000 schoolchildren do not attend schools because of the fighting in the Karabakh conflict zone.

Let us remind you that on October 10, the Syunik District of Armenia was shelled. As a result, a resident of the Artsvanik village was killed there, while three other villagers were injured. The hostilities entering the territory of Armenia can be an argument for the Russia's intervention in the conflict, since, in accordance with the obligations under the Collective Security Treaty, Russia can protect Armenia, but not the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh, explains Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary for the President of Russia.
