Yunus Vidzizhev assassinated in Ingushetia

In the course of special actions undertaken in the city of Nazran, Ingush law enforcers killed a man. According to preliminary data, Yunus Vidzizhev, an active participant in mass protests in Ingushetia in 2019, was shot dead.

In the evening on October 16, a shootout occurred in Nazran; and a car exploded. Law enforcers reported that a group of several militants had been blocked in the city, and that one of them was shot dead.

According to law enforcers, Yunus Vidzizhev, the owner of a rental network of dummy weapons, who was wanted in connection with the storage of combat weapons, was killed by the explosion.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Vidzizhev was one of the participants in the protests in Ingushetia caused by the establishment of the border with Chechnya; and in February 2020, searches were conducted in his house. Earlier, this February, Vidzizhev managed to escape from law enforcers during an attempt to detain him.

On March 26, 2019, opponents of the agreement on the Chechen-Ingush border refused to disperse after the rally in Magas had finished. On the other day, law enforcers tried to disperse the protestors, and clashes occurred. Later, ordinary participants of the rally were accused of attacks on law enforcers, and rally organizers were accused of creating an extremist community.

In June, the "Fortanga.Org" Channel posted a video with Vidzizhev's appeal, in which he stated that law enforcers had taken the data from the CCTV cameras, which had recorded what was happening in front of his house in order to hide their crimes, and that Yunus himself did not shoot at law enforcers. Besides, according to his story, they did not know that there were cameras installed in his store: they recorded how law enforcers robbed his store. Vidzizhev was sure that law enforcers were trying to kill him.
