Civilian fell victim to a shelling attack on Karabakh villages

Today, the number of civilians in Nagorno-Karabakh killed in shelling attacks since the beginning of the fighting in the Karabakh conflict zone has reached 34. Many women with children and elderly people had left Stepanakert because of the threat of shelling attacks, city residents reported.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 10, an agreement on ceasefire in the Karabakh conflict zone entered into force, but the parties to the conflict continued to report about battles and shelling attacks.

Today, at least one civilian has been killed as a result of a night shelling attack on villages, towns, and cities in Nagorno-Karabakh, Karabakh Ombudsman Artak Beglaryan reports. In the evening on October 15, a man was killed during a shelling attack on the village of Krasny Bazar in the Martuni District, and a woman was injured in the village of Knaravan in the Shaumyan District, the Ombudsman of Nagorno-Karabakh reported.

Residents of Stepanakert say that they spend most part of the days in shelters.

Most of the women with children and elderly people have left Stepanakert, and they stay in Armenia or in the safer regions of Nagorno-Karabakh, says Sinara Adamyan, a local resident. "Mainly those families stayed in the shelters whose husbands, brothers, and sons are on the front lines. There are adult children whom their parents could not force to leave for Armenia. They help a lot those who remained, for example, in our shelter. I believe, out of tenants of 36 apartments in our house, almost 40% have left," Sinara Adamyan told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. The woman from Stepanakert has also added that she had sent her children to stay with their relatives in Yerevan.
