Azerbaijan and Armenia exchange accusations of ceasefire violations

Since morning, Armenian troops have been shelling the Goranboy, Terter, Agdam and Agdjabedin Districts, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has stated. At night, artillery shelling was carried out in the Karabakh conflict zone; and in the morning, Azerbaijani militaries launched an offensive in the northern direction of the front, Armenian authorities have reported.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 10, an agreement on ceasefire in the Karabakh conflict zone entered into force, but the parties to the conflict continued to report about battles and shelling attacks.

During the day on October 15 and at night on October 16, the operative situation in the Agdere-Agdam and Fizuli-Gadrut directions of the front remained tense, the Azerbaijani MoD has informed. During October 15, missiles and mortars were fired at the positions of Azerbaijani units in the Djebrail and Gadrut directions, as well as at the villages located near the frontline, the MoD has stated in its message sent to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The Azerbaijani MoD has also reported on Armenia's strikes on four districts. "This morning, the Armenian Armed Forces, which have grossly violated the humanitarian ceasefire, are shelling the territories of the Goranboy, Terter, Agdam and Agdjabedi Districts," the MoD said in its press release.

Artillery battles continued in the conflict zone at night, the Armenian unified information centre reported on the Facebook. "During the night, relatively stable tensions remained in the conflict zone. In the morning, having violated the humanitarian ceasefire, Azerbaijan resumed its offensive operations in the northern direction," the centre's publication translated by the "Caucasian Knot" has stated.
