Problems of Karabakh migrants find response in Yerevan residents

Residents of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NK), who moved to Armenia after the start of the fighting, have received, along with authorities' help, received support of local residents, who collected foodstuffs, clothes and medicines for them. They had to urgently escape from the shelling, by taking only documents with them, said the settlers from the conflict zone.

The authorities of the NK have stated that they are not engaged in evacuating residents to Armenia; and those who left did it privately. Also, men of military age are prohibited from leaving the region. On October 8, the office of the NK's Ombudsperson reported about more than 110 civilian victims.

All the children who came from the NK can attend schools in Armenia, said Ophelia Kamavosyan, the press secretary of the Armenian Ministry for Emergencies (MfE).

Amid the conflict aggravation in Karabakh, social media users are posting ads offering help to the NK residents, who have temporarily moved to Armenia. In particular, Elena Shuvaeva-Petrosyan, together with Modjaba Dolatkha, has posted a list of 26 families on the Facebook; 18 of them have already received help.

Knarik Matevosyan, a Yerevan resident, has noted that "she still cannot forget the screams of her granddaughters in the telephone receiver, when they called her after shelling."
