Azerbaijan reports intense fighting in conflict zone

Hostilities in the Karabakh conflict zone continued at night and this morning, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has reported, informing about the opponent's losses.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 27, warfare began in the Karabakh conflict zone. According to official data, in the first two days of the fighting, 84 soldiers and six civilians perished in Nagorno-Karabakh; and about 200 servicemen and more than 30 civilians were wounded. Azerbaijan has reported nine killed and 22 wounded residents of border villages; no information was reported about losses in the Azerbaijani Army.

At night on September 29, tense battles continued along the entire frontline, the press service of the Azerbaijani MoD has reported. "The Armenian Armed Forces have repeatedly made attempts to counterattack in order to regain the lost positions in the Fuzuli-Djebrail and Agder-Terter directions," the press release of the Azerbaijani MoD has stated.

The MoD named up to 10 servicemen and a tank among the enemy's losses. "Intense battles continue. The enemy was forced to retreat, suffering heavy losses," the MoD has said in its statement translated into Russian by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

In another release, the MoD reported on the shelling that began today at 7:30 a.m. from the territory of the Vardenis District of Armenia on the combat positions located in the Dashkesan District.
