456 Azerbaijanis go home from Kullar camp
After another sending of Azerbaijani citizens to their homeland, about 800 people still remain in the border tent camp in Dagestan; the flow of newcomers to the camp has increased, said Afik Allakhverdiev, the spokesman of the National Cultural Autonomy of Azerbaijanis in the Moscow Region.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that for the Azerbaijanis who failed to get home because of the border closure, the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) opened a temporary accommodation centre (TAC) in the form of a tent camp on the border of the Derbent and Magaramkent Districts of Dagestan, near the village of Kullar. Campers are sent home in groups every Tuesday.
On September 15, 456 people left the camp, after which some 700-800 Azerbaijanis remained there, of them up to 400 nationals have settled spontaneously around the camp, Mr Allakhverdiev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. According to his story, the number of people arriving at the border area is constantly increasing; at the moment, more than 3000 people are waiting for crossing the Russian-Azerbaijani border, taking into account those who stay with relatives, rent apartments or stay in a hotel.
He finds it necessary to double the weekly dispatched groups, since the Azerbaijani side and the quarantine camp on its territory can receive up to 2200 people.
