Journalist suffers at activists' rally in support of Tofig Yagublu

Journalist Sevindj Sadygova, who on September 9 covered a rally in support of Tofig Yagublu, an oppositionist, injured her leg after a law enforcer pushed her. The police released, on the same day, the three women detained at the rally, activists reported.

On September 9, about a dozen activists, mostly women, tried to hold a protest action at the courthouse in Baku, where Yagublu was sentenced.

"We wanted to hand over a resolution demanding to cancel Tofig Yagublu's verdict; but policemen harshly blocked our path and began rudely pushing us away from the courthouse," said Aigyul Djafarova, an activist. According to her story, three women who were outraged by law enforcers' actions of were detained.

Law enforcers interfered with the work of journalists, said Sevindj Sadygova, a journalist for the online edition "Azel.Tv".

On September 9, more than 30 people were detained at a rally in support of Yagublu. Law enforcers detained those who demanded to release the convict, or who were wearing clothes with his image.

Khalid Agaliev, a lawyer at the Institute of Media Law, has treated the policemen's obstruction to journalists' work as illegal.
