Ingush activist Chakhkiev rejects any political motives of his actions at Magas rally

The prosecution has unreasonably deprived the Ingush activist, Akhmed Chakhkiev, of the right to have his case considered in the special order by adding a political component to his indictment, his advocate has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 5, Ingush law enforcers conducted searches, within the framework of the inquiry into the case of last year's clashes in Magas, and detained Akhmed Chakhkiev and Akhmed Dugiev.

Chakhkiev is accused of participating in the unsanctioned rally in Magas on March 27, 2019, and an attack on "Rosgvardia" (Russian National Guard) fighters. According to investigators, during the riots at the rally, Chakhkiev hit one of law enforcers and threw a plastic chair at another one.

Chakhkiev has told the court that he had no feeling of political enmity, and that he expressed his disagreement with the authorities' decision to transfer Ingush lands to Chechnya at the duly sanctioned part of the March 26 rally, his advocate has stated.
