Over 1000 people are waiting to be sent to Azerbaijan near Kullar

More than 1000 Azerbaijani citizens have accumulated in the border village of Kullar, who are waiting for the departure to their homeland; the tent camp set up by the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) contains "tents full of women and children," a representative of the National-Cultural Autonomy of Azerbaijanis has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the MfE opened a temporary accommodation centre (TAC) on the border of the Derbent and Magaramkent Districts of Dagestan for the Azerbaijani citizens who could not get home because of the border closure. Campers are sent home in groups every Tuesday. On August 25, 400 people were sent to Azerbaijan, after which about 800 people remained in the camp.

On Tuesday, September 1, another group should be sent to the territory of Azerbaijan, Afig Allakhverdiev, the deputy head of the National-Cultural Autonomy of Azerbaijanis in the Moscow Region, told the "Caucasian Knot". Mr Allakhverdiev noted that the list for departure has already been formed; it included 460 people. "We put 460 people on the list, but we don't know how many will be allowed in," he has added.

According to his story, people continue arriving at the border area near Kullar, hoping to cross the border. Some 30-60 people arrive daily, but at the beginning of each week the number increases dramatically.

People are accommodated both in the MfE's camp and near it. "Over 1000 people are now here - full tents of women and children," Afig Allakhverdiev has concluded.
