Grozny native's friends claim his innocence in attacking law enforcer

A court in Saint Petersburg has dismissed the complaint against the arrest of Mansur Abdylkhaisiev, a native of Chechnya, accused of violence against a migration inspector. Mansur's acquaintances, who witnessed the incident, said that the inspector herself grabbed Mansur's hand when he tried to avoid a conflict with the law enforcer.

The incident involving Abdylkhaisiev occurred in early August in Saint Petersburg.

His defence asked the court to mitigate Mansur's custody down to house arrest, his advocate, Alexei Selyukov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. His client faces up to ten years in prison.

In July, Moscow saw clashes of Armenians with Azerbaijanis. According to law enforcers, more than 20 brawlers were detained. After that, Petersburg's law enforcers detained more than 60 Armenians and Azerbaijanis as part of a preventive raid, the "Novaya Gazeta" reported.
