Natives of Chechnya returned from Moscow recruited to take part in football match
The young people, declared offenders and returned from Moscow to Chechnya, took part in a friendly football match organized by the Chechen Ministry of Sports. The footballers received gifts and cash bonuses, officials have informed.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 3, the "Grozny" ChGTRK (Chechen State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company) announced that Chechen authorities forced about a hundred local natives to return from Moscow – law enforcers treated them as drug addicts and lawbreakers. Then, the young people publicly repented.
The football match took place on August 17 in Grozny, an official from the Chechen Ministry of Sports said. "At the initiative of the Minister of Sports, a friendly match was organized between young people who had been returned from Moscow for their inappropriate behaviour. At the end of the match, all its participants received football uniforms and were awarded cash prizes in the amount of 10,000 roubles each," the source told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
One of the participants in the match said, on condition of anonymity, that he had learned about the upcoming match from a policeman. "The district policeman called and said that I should take part in a football match that the Ministry of Sports is organizing for us. I had to participate. I had no particular desire, but in the end I even liked it," the young man told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
