Kullar riot defendants reject their confessions

Azerbaijani citizens, Elmar Musaev and Taral Giyasov, have stated that they have been deceived when they signed confessions in the case of protests in the tent camp in Kullar. Seven out of ten accused have been left in custody.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that three defendants in the Kullar riots case – Elmar Mekhtiev, Anvar Muradov and Djeikhun Namazov – were sent under house arrest. Five others – Rovshan Guseinov, Elbrus Akhmedov, Nakhid Agaev, Aziz Ferekzad and Emin Imamaliev – were left by the court in custody for another month.

According to the court, all the defendants "threw stones and other objects" at law enforcers. More than 10 law enforcers received traumas.

Elmar Musaev has stated that he was fraudulently forced to sign a confession.

Taral Giyasov, 24, said that he was going to return home to Azerbaijan to his pregnant wife. Besides, he has sick parents at home.

Giyasov has denied his involvement in the protests. According to his version, he was detained at night, when he was returning from the store, and was beaten up.
