Over 700 people remain in camp near Kullar

Azerbaijani citizens continue arriving at the tent camp near the Dagestani village of Kullar. A day after another group of Azerbaijanis was sent to their homeland, the number of camp residents again exceeded 700 people.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that residents of the tent camp set up near the village of Kullar are sent home in groups every week. By August 11, about 500 people remained in the camp.

According to Afig Allakhverdiev, a representative of the Azerbaijan National Organization, people from different cities of Russia continue arriving in Kullar, aiming to get to Azerbaijan.

Some of the newcomers have come to Dagestan, mistakenly believing that the Russian-Azerbaijani border is already open; others fell victim to deception, Mr Allakhverdiev has explained, adding that some bus owners are recruiting citizens of Azerbaijan, promising them a quick solution to the problem of border crossing. People are brought to the border area near Kullar, after which the driver, who had collected money from the passengers under the promise to transfer them across the border, simply escapes.
